A reminder that dressing warmly for these temperatures and dressing in layers is important. Students should try and keep a sweater in their bag during this time of year in case they are feeling a bit chilly at times and need to add a layer. If students are feeling warm, they can also have the option of taking off a sweater and having another lighter shirt underneath. In addition, it is recommended that students have their own refillable water bottle in the portable. This will help avoid extra trips outside in these cold temperatures.
Our homework book has started up again for the start of the New Year. Homework will go home today and is expected back on Thursday. This week's WWWs are focusing on contractions. When you are reading with your child, see if you can work together to spot contractions and talk about what the two words are that create the contraction. When writing, the students will be working on Procedural Writing and looking at example texts that include procedures, e.g., recipes, instructions, how to instructions, board game instructions, etc. We will also be discussing goals and goal setting for the start of the New Year. We will talk about the importance of setting personal and educational goals and students will have the opportunity to write down some of their own goals for the next few months of school. We will continue in math to work on temperature and interpreting graphs. In Religion, we will be learning about the Epiphany and The Magi.
I am looking forward to getting back to our routines this week and having a productive learning week!
I hope everyone had a restful and peaceful holiday surrounded by loved ones.
