Descriptive Writing
In Language, we have begun our Descriptive Writing unit. The students have been listening to teacher read alouds of example descriptive texts and finding descriptive features in the books we read together. Students have also written a description of a pumpkin carving idea they had as well as a description of their favourite stuffie .
This week, one of ourfavourite descriptive stories was 'Miss Rumphius'. We talked about how the author uses words to paint vivid pictures (or movie) in our mind. The author also uses words to evoke our senses and makes us feel like we are right there in the story.

Bracelets for Mateo
Coming together as a community!
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be selling bracelets here at St. Cecilia to raise money for Mateo and his family. Mateo is a former student of St. Cecilia, who should be enjoying his first year at St. Joe's in Grade 7. Instead, he is fighting a brave battle with cancer. Mateo's brother is a student at St. Cecilia and he along with other St. Cecilia students and teachers, will be selling bracelets during recesses. Bracelets are $2.00 and the money raised will go towards Mateo and his family.
Thank you in advance for all of your support and kindness. St. Cecilia ROCKS!!!

I am thankful to God for...
Today we celebrated a beautiful Thanksgiving Mass together as a St. Cecilia community. We also reflected in class about what we are personally thankful for and completed a rough copy for our Thanksgiving Reflection Pumpkin. The students loved the video that we watched today. Ask your child about what they are thankful for. We heard many prayers of thanks today.
Students:
Below is the video we watched today if you would like to see it again or share it with your family:).
